I’m a writer, teacher, photographer, minister, and world traveler. I grew up in San Diego, California but always knew from a young age that I wanted to live in other countries. I also knew that I was a writer, even before I knew how to read.
I love words and all of their beautiful implications. I love reading them, writing them, playing with them in poetry and prose, and learning about the various forms they can take in other languages.
Inherent in languages are the cultures that are given a voice by them. To learn another language is to learn a new way to think about life. It is also a great way to learn about your own language, your beliefs, and yourself.
I’ve taken this love of travel and languages to the various places I’ve called home. From the baked beaches of sunny San Diego to studying in Germany and France, from brooding in Seattle to sweltering in the crucible of Florida where I trained and matured in ministry, I had only just begun. After returning briefly to California, with a pit stop in South Dakota, I then moved to the other side of the world to teach English and other subjects in China. Now back home in California, I have barely even started this adventure.
